What Is A Photo-Hydro Ionization Cell?
You can use an ultra violet light in your HVAC system. Typical ultra violet lights are used to kill contamination, but they have to shine on a surface for an extended period of time to do so. Companies are now using UV light in a PHI cell in order to activate a quad-metallic compound coated onto a grid surrounding the UV bulb. The entire ductwork is then flooded with hydro-peroxides, ozonide ions, super oxide ions and hydroxide ions when using this method. This is how the ultra violet lights will kills contaminants.
Why use a PHI cell?
Using this type of cell kills and sterilizes contaminants on contact throughout the ductwork. This helps eliminate mold, bacteria, viruses, VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) and air pollutants such as gas and other odors. Contaminants are then reduced to harmless oxygen and hydrogen atoms.
